Phelps News - Mar 2012

Greetings from the amazing island of Madagascar.

My colleague, Paul Guinness and I arrived in Antananarivo on Friday 9
th March. On Saturday we spent the morning ministering to the nine members of the OM team. That afternoon we caught a minibus taxi that took us through the night to Antsohihy in the North-West province of Sofia. Sunday afternoon was spent visiting two churches and a local Christian radio station.

We were due to start with training with pastors and leaders after lunch on the Monday. Due to various delays like motorbikes being confiscated by police, bad roads and doctors visits meant that we only got started the following morning. The next three days were spent taking the group of seven church leaders through a process of how to plan, design and implement a training program for lay leaders. This was a follow up visit from a previous visit last year and it was encouraging to see evidence that they had been applying what I taught during that last visit.

Thursday afternoon saw us board a bus for the very long (16 hours long!), return trip to Antananarivo. Saturday was spent with the OM team again. A brief presentation at a large city church wrapped up the ministry program.

My Dad

Thank you for your prayers for my dad’s surgery last month. He came through the surgery really well and has recovered well. Tomorrow he goes in for the same procedure on the other lung. Please pray for God’s hand over him this time round as well.

I travel to Germany on the 25
th of March to participate in OM international meetings where we will be considering training around the world and leadership development in the organization.

Grietjie has had a number of challenges while I’ve been away, but has coped really well. Please continue to uphold Grietjie and the kids in the times when I’m away.

Thanks for your interest and support
