Phelps News - Jun 2012

Greetings in the name of the Lord of the Harvest.

Once again time has flown by and much has happened.

Since February:
March - Colin travelled with his new assistant to Madagascar to conduct “How to Develop Training programs” to church leaders, and ministered to the OM team in Antananariva.

March – Colin travelled to Germany to participate in an OM International Training consultation. It was good to be interacting with colleagues from around the world.

April – Colin travelled to Siabuwa in Zimbabwe to watch the participants in the LIFE Development process pass on some of what they learnt over the past three years to other pastors from the area in the local language.

April – Grietjie had the opportunity follow-up the entrepreneurial training she’d done in Mamelodi in November 2011. She was encouraged at the results.

May – Family took a brief holiday to Bela-bela

In between all that home schooling continues, and Colin administers and develops training for the region.

Coming up soon:

Next week – Colin travels to Germany to facilitate a new OM International training initiative designed to help new leaders adjust to the international organizational culture.

Mid-July – Mid August – The whole family heads off in our new twin-cab bakkie to Zimbabwe and Zambia. (Our probable itinerary is at the bottom of this email.) Pray for the kids particularly as we use this trip to take schooling out of the home and into a different world.

August – Grietjie does another round of entrepreneurship training in Mamelodi.

September – Grietjie and Colin participate as trainers in the two week Leadership Matters Course to be hosted in Pretoria.

In our last communication we laid out some of the financial challenges we were facing. We have been blessed to see a number of new supporters and some existing supporters increase their support. We are now 80% of the way to our monthly needs. If we work really carefully we are just about able to manage monthly. We are grateful to God for his faithfulness and provision.

Ongoing financial challenges:
- Ministry expenses (the trip to Zimbabwe and Zambia will cost about R9000 including fuel, accommodation, etc.),
- Griejtie’s mother needs to move into a retirement home and we need to contribute R1500 per month to help with the finances.
- SARS is relooking at how volunteers are taxed and we face the possibility of having to pay taxes that we haven’t had to in the past.

Thank you again for your interest and prayers.

Colin for the family
